Low dissolved oxygen concentration as the triggering factor of fish mass mortalities during algal bloom incidents in Jakarta Bay, Indonesia

Recently, the recurrence of algal blooms has had a negative impact on fisheries in Jakarta bay and resulted in the mass mortality of wild fish in three locations. These algal blooms developed in the transition period from the dry to the rainy season (October to December). The fish kills occurred on October 28, 2015 in Pari Island, on November 28, 2015 in Ancol Beach and on December 13, 2015 in Muara Angke. A large number of dead fish appeared spreading along the shore of the three locations after the bloom incident
